The Senior Software Developer will play a key role on the Cashiering Technology Management support organization, ensuring the availability, stability, performance, and resilience of a number of large/sophisticated applications across Schwab's Journals, Wires, Checks and other Money Movement applications.

What you are good at
* Understanding the need for operational metrics and crafting processes to deliver meaningful/appropriate metrics at various organizational levels.
* Proactively identifying (and remediating) production issues - elimination of tech debt.
* Working with external Vendors to drive platform maturity/capability.
* Providing technical leadership for (onshore/offshore) teams implementing system solutions that are consistent with strategic business and technical objectives.
* basic understanding of support methodologies is desired (SRE - Reliability, SAvE - Availability , ITIL, etc.).
What you have
Required:
* Demonstrated leadership experience in a technical role (6+ years).
* Broad technical skills, with an in-depth knowledge of the SDLC in Mainframe environments.
* Strong COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM experience
* Excellent knowledge of DB2 SQL, Stored Procedures
* Experienced in building CICS wrapper programs for exposing mainframe enabled web-services to a Request/Reply middleware messaging framework
* Ability to do deep dive system analysis of the mainframe programs, translate logic to system requirement.
* Knowledge in Agile (Kanban and SCRUM) and DevOps methodologies
* Messaging technologies like IBM MQ and RabbitMQ
* Working knowledge of batch management/scheduling tools (Control-M, ESP).
* Exposure to system/application monitoring/alerting/dashboarding tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, ITRS).
Desired:
* Understanding of Agile methodologies and tools is a plus (JIRA, Confluence, SCRUM, Kanban).
* Validated understanding of support methodologies(SRE - Reliability, SAvE - Availability , ITIL, etc.).
* Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, Bitbucket, Bamboo, WCF, Web API, .NET Framework, Web Services, REST, JSON, SOAP, LINQ
* Object Oriented Programming using C/Java
* Developing PaaS ready distributed web services using C and/or Java in a Linux / Windows data center environment.
* Developing/running REST and SOAP-based Web Service API(s) in a transaction processing environment.
* Distributed multi-tier applications, WMI and SQL DB.
* NoSQL databases like MongoDB/Redis
