This position may be filled in either Columbus, OH or Tulsa, OK.
Under general direction, manages the activities of the Resource Planning section which performs resource planning activities for jurisdictions in which retail service remains bundled, including: determining resource need; evaluating power supply alternatives; developing fuel and purchased power projections for budgeting, fuel factor and other regulatory filings; performing other dispatch simulation related studies; and preparing related regulatory and reliability council filings and support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:
1.) Manage a staff of analysts who perform the production cost (fuel & purchased power) or planning/resource optimization modeling activities on behalf of the AEP operating companies.
2.) Develop and implement processes and procedures to effectively perform production cost/resource optimization modeling to support regulatory filings, financial forecasts, and ad hoc studies using the Plexos? application.
3.) Prepare studies and expert witness testimony for fuel factor, certificate of need, integrated resource plan and other regulatory filings, and respond to data requests from intervening parties.
4.) Incorporate new RTO requirements, load forecast updates, updates to supply and demand-side resource parameters, and commodity price changes into the analyses performed by the staff.
5.) Maintain positive working relations with various constituents, including internal Service Corporation groups and external parties such as regulatory staffs and software vendors.
Minimum Requirements BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education requirements are listed below:
* Bachelor degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics), or a Bachelor degree in a non-analytical field with two years of analytical experience
Work Experience requirement listed below:
Three (3) years as a Resource Planning Analyst Staff or 10 years of related resource planning experience (in addition to the experience identified above), specifically in generating plant operations
or construction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, commercial operations, RTO operations, or transmission engineering/operations. An advanced degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science,
or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) will be considered to be two (2) years of relevant experience

1. Candidates with a professional certification or license will be given preference (e.g., PE, CMA, CFA)2. Master's degree in a related engineer or business field is preferred3. Ability to work occasional overtime (weekend/evenings)and/or work remotely.4. Occasional overnight travel may be required.5. Ability to serve as a witness in regulatory proceedings (may require travel for multiple days).6. Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), familiarity with Access and SAS also preferred.
