DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

THE ROLE
Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The ground infrastructure software development engineer will take a strategic role in the architecture and the software product development life cycle for customer terminals and gateways. The candidate will create software that is used to design, develop, launch and operate ground systems and be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the software from development to testing to operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical lead for a BSP team focused on supporting custom hardware designs using cutting edge technology
Develop solutions to bridge the gap between OS software, application software, antenna software, and modem software
Board bring-up of next-generation satellite broadband ground systems
Develop prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints
Developing embedded software systems and device drivers in assembly, C, C++, Rust or other languages
Low-level systems programming in real time and non-real time environments
Bit-level data analysis and knowledge of various operating systems (OS)

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
7+ years industry experience.
Development experience in systems-programming (Linux kernel, device drivers).
Experience with debugging, performance optimization and unit testing.
Experience with software analysis, or low-level programming, and hands-on experience with integrating hardware and software systems.
Experience with developing production software systems in both realtime and non-realtime systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters or PhD in computer science, or related technical discipline.
RF experience for mmWave antennas, and wireless networking.
Experience with digital communication systems, single and multi-carrier techniques and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK and QAM.
Experience using RF concepts such as AGC, noise figure, power amplifier, phase noise, PLL, oscillators/mixers to design embedded software in the terminal.
Hands-on experience with programming micro-controllers and single-board computers.
