DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager, Public Policy will join a growing, dynamic team and be able to directly enhance Amazons advocacy before city and county policymakers in Northern California. Like our business interests, our policy issues are broad, forward-thinking, and driven by what is best for our customers.

The Senior Manager will create and execute local government affairs objectives in Northern California. This position will lead local government outreach and establish relationships with public officials in communities where we have existing facilities and planned development. This position will also be responsible for engaging on city and county ordinances and regulation, working with outside consultants, and interacting with our trade associations.

The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with relevant business, public relations, and legal teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. This position will report to the Senior Manager, California Public Policy and work closely with other public policy team members.

This position will be based in the San Francisco.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree.
8-10+ years of public policy and/or equivalent corporate reputation experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with local public policy and engagement efforts and/or experience with local /municipal policymaking.
Prior experience with steep learning curves, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels.
Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across organization and culture.
Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
JD or Advanced Degree not strictly required but would be a strong plus.
