The Opportunity
The Legal Operations team is involved in nearly everything the legal department does, except for practicing law. This team enables each of the legal practice areas by delivering processes, systems, and administrative support in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The Legal Operations Analyst will support the legal department's day-to-day business operations. The ideal candidate will have an interest in gaining valuable process and legal operations experience while supporting the needs of the legal department.
This position, reporting to the Legal Operations Manager, will interact with key stakeholders to understand the business, identify opportunities, and help design and implement solutions to meet the business needs. They will work closely and develop relationships with Risk, Supply Chain, IT, Accounts Payable, Finance and other departments across Ally.
The Work Itself
* Front-line interaction with key department technologies and users, tracking department finances to budget, and interaction with internal and external stakeholders and vendors with a focus on driving and improving processes and operations.
* Support implementation of Ally's Outside Counsel Management program with a focus on due diligence review and on-going monitoring.
* Assist responding to internal and external law firm related inquires and conduct necessary research.
* Assist with billing matters including preparing spend reports with opportunity to analyze and communicate report data and analytics.
* Support technology related projects to improve efficiency and process workflows.
* Other tasks as assigned supporting risk-management practices.
The Skills You Bring
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT, Business Operations, Risk or related major preferred
* 2 + years' experience in the financial industry, IT, Legal IT, or Risk with specific experience in legal operations roles preferred
* Ability to analyze and document current state processes and systems and recommend improvements
* Demonstrated ability to work across functional teams
* Identify pain points and efficiency opportunities
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple duties
* Experience in scheduling and coordinating meetings and presentations
* Ability to create and adhere to project timelines
* Ability to respond quickly to a changing environment
* Ability to work independently with high integrity and ethics
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and other database applications
