Job Description:
Broadcoms Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a talented and motivated software engineer with a passion for building high quality cloud applications using agile practices to join our Mainframe Resource Intelligence (MRI) team.
Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the worlds structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.
MRI analyzes mainframe environments to provide customers insight about capacity optimization, resource usage, security, and more. In this role, you will be a key member of the development team and will focus on building, testing, deploying and supporting MRI, a SaaS offering. Your role will be as a software developer for the MRI cloud application, with a primary focus on backend development.
You will be based in either our Pittsburgh or Plano office, and will work closely with our R&D team in Prague, Czech Republic.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design, implement and test software that meets functional and business requirements, on schedule and within budget.
* Work with customers, product managers, and solution architects to understand business requirements and translate those requirements into solutions
* Create unit tests and perform functional testing of software to find bugs and confirm that delivered software meets specifications and quality requirements.
* Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
* Apply best practices in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and code hygiene
* Operate effectively within a self-organized team, part of a large scale adoption of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* B.Sc. or higher in Computer Science or related technical field
* 5+ years of experience in building backend services for web applications using one or more of JavaScript, TypeScript, Java
* Strong familiarity with REST, HTTP, JSON
* Experience with distributed systems
* Experience with unit testing and functional testing tools like Jest, Junit, Selenium, Cucumber, etc.
* Ability to work independently and productively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
* Working experience in an Agile environment and as part of geographically distributed teams
* Effective communicator in English
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
* Microservices and Cloud Native Development
* Cloud APIs from one or more cloud service providers such as GCP, AWS or IBM Cloud
* MEAN stack, including Angular 7+
* Machine Learning tools
* Document databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB, DynamoDB
* Graph databases
* Event based and streaming systems and APIs, e.g. Kafka
* Development frameworks such as SpringBoot, NestJS
* Reactive programming techniques and tools such as RxJS, WebFlux etc.
* Mainframe systems
