The Crop Risk Services (CRS) team maintains strong relationships with a network of third party agents that sell government-subsidized as well as CRS crop insurance products to help mitigate the risk and uncertainty of loss for Americas farmers. The CRS Underwriting staff plays a key role in delivering superior customer service to its agent network and ensuring accurate records are maintained on each insurance policy in accordance with the US Department of Agricultures Risk Management Agency (RMA) guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
* Maintain deep knowledge of RMA established deadlines and ensure the underwriting team meets all deadlines and compliance requirements.
* Learn and maintain a working knowledge of all crops/plans serviced by CRS.
* Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with agents, regulators and key industry participants.
* Attract and hire high performing employees.
* Manage, develop and retain a growing and diverse workforce.
* Lead and encourage a high performing culture of service and teamwork.
* Partner with sales, claims, compliance, accounting, human resources, and technology teams to resolve issues and collaborate on strategic initiatives.
* Automate and improve underwriting processes to maximize efficiency.
* Develop and modify organizational structure to support a growing business.
* Develop and monitor key underwriting performance metrics (production, turn-around times, errors, etc.).
* Assist in sales efforts as needed.
Job Requirements
* Previous management experience is preferred
* Experience in the crop insurance industry is preferred in an underwriter or supervisory role
* Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external partners.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to build trust, gain support and influence others.
* Ability to think strategically, improve processes and mitigate customer complaints.
* Strong initiative and eagerness to learn new things.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
