This Application Product Manager will be accountable for data driven solutions in the ADS BSA as part of the P&C Data Solutions application suite. The primary focus will be on on the Claims and Finance data domains as they support actuary, advanced analytics, and business intelligence needs across Property and Casualty.

The technologies being leveraged within the team are Spark, Scala, Python, StreamSets, Databricks, Informatica, and cloud data constructs including Snowflake and AWS S3.

This leader will have 13 associates reporting to them and accountability for work completed by 29 individuals when you consider contractors in this space.

The organization is shifting to product driven delivery . Being open to learn and lead through change will be critical for this leader.

Job Description Summary

Summary: Manages activities and staff responsible for one or more components of the systems development life cycle including business analysis, systems analysis, applications development and/or quality assurance and testing analysis functions. Responsible for feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs. Assists in projecting and testing software and hardware requirements. Assigns personnel to various projects and manages activities. Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance reports. Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. Consults with personnel in other information systems sections to coordinate activities. Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the activities of the applications section.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Officer

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manages all activities and functions of a staff involved with the analysis, definition, specification, development, testing, documentation and installation of new and/or existing applications.

2. Manages a staff responsible for the analysis and validation of user and system requirements as well as existing business processes and information systems.

3. Manages multiple groups involved in designing, developing and implementing new programs and/or modifications of existing applications. Manages a staff responsible for the creation of prototypes and other methodologies for new and/or existing systems. Responsible for the development and implementation of test plans and strategies.

4. Manages a staff responsible for the design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation and implementation of software applications. Manages a staff of software testers involved in a wide range of quality-control tests and analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements.

5. Manages the activities associated with the definition and development of specifications as well as the programming and quality testing of technical modules, applications, prototypes and computer programs.

6. Manages one or more aspects of the systems development life cycle.

7. Manages a staff responsible for the planning, development and implementation of strategies related to the systems development life cycle. Manages a staff involved with the evaluation and consultation of technical solutions for systems development life cycle problems and issues.

8. Determines user requirements, leads application design, plans projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress. Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness. Ensures all projects are completed within time and budget and are integrated with other software applications.
Responsible for feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and the establishment and implementation of new or revised applications systems and programs.

9. Manages a staff involved in test planning, test requirement definition, test design, test script, test data development, test automation, test environment development and script configuration management as well as test execution.

10. Leads in the development and implementation of the overall strategic vision and integration of broad range ideas regarding business analysis, systems analysis, applications development, and/or quality assurance and testing capabilities.

11. Assists in the development and implementation of business analysis, systems analysis, applications development, and quality assurance and testing policies, standards, procedures and methodologies.

12. Position is a first-level manager and has direct responsibility for people management.

13. In addition to project deployment, responsibilities include career development, performance management, and pay determination and communication.

14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: N/A

Experience: Eight years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in management is preferred.

Knowledge: Must have proven knowledge in computer programming language. Must have a thorough understanding in systems and data processing policies, practices and procedures. Must have a thorough understanding in systems analysis and design techniques. Must have expert knowledge of the systems development life cycle. Demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts and techniques required. Must have familiarity of financial statement preparation, budgeting and financial analysis concepts and techniques.

Skills/Competencies: Must be able to manage a staff responsible one or more components of the systems development life cycle. Must have the ability manage multiple teams that analyze applications and systems. Must be able to program complex systems requiring minimal interfaces. Must possess strong problem-solving skills to determine the programming effects on existing systems. Must have strong decision-making skills for problem identification and solution recommendation. Must possess strong project leadership and management skills. Must be able to develop, implement and present applications development strategies. Must have strong written and oral communication skills to prepare and communicate programming plans and procedures as well as to interact with all levels within the company.Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
