Description

Under general supervision, provide support for operational and engineering applications and data systems. Develop and maintain a strong familiarity with mining practices, processing practices and related technology systems, their functionality and limitations. Design, coordinate and support system enhancements by working with vendors, application developers, engineers and operational users. Assist with data-driven process improvement projects.

* Support clients of operational applications by providing data for specific requests, resolving issues with system functionality and performance, and training clients in the proper use and features of these applications
* Create reports using advanced querying and report-building standard tools and maintain existing reports to account for system changes or changes in client/operational requirements
* Perform database administration tasks
* Monitor and maintain system health of supported applications
* Design and plan enhancements to current systems and coordinate the implementation of these plans with vendors, application owners and other involved parties
* Develop and implement modifications for local/site specific applications to improve operational efficiency, seeking standard and third-party solutions where possible
* Actively participate and promote Safety and Environmental programs, ensuring MIS policy compliance and site operational goals
* Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a mining-related Engineering discipline, including a basic understanding of database concepts and usage, OR
* High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of experience in database administration, software troubleshooting, computer systems maintenance and application support including a basic understanding of database concepts and usage
* Must be customer service-oriented and possess good organization and interpersonal skills
* Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written

Preferred

* Mining, mineral processing or metallurgical experience
* Database Management System experience (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)
* Process Data Historian experience (Aspentech Infoplus.21, PI, etc.)
* Mining Fleet Management systems or Dispatching systems experience

Criteria/Conditions

* Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
* Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
* Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
* Work will be performed in an office, mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
* Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, and climb stairs
* Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
* Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing
