Job Description:

The Industrial Powers Systems Division currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Project Engineer in our Seguin, TX facility. As an experienced Manufacturing Project Engineer at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to provide technical expertise and guidance in development of major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* This position requires a high degree of experience and expertise in various or specific fields of manufacturing such as factory design, lean manufacturing, manufacturing technology, etc. Incumbent needs to have a good understanding of product design to combine with process design expertise to provide for improved manufacturability of parts and major components.

* Provides direction and guidance to other manufacturing personnel in a continuous effort to improve manufacturing productivity. Works with suppliers (both internal and external) in the development of projects, which ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products.

* This position is actively involved with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product. Ensures Engineering, Purchasing and shop personnel both at Caterpillar and suppliers are involved in the approval process so that sound decisions are made which improve manufacturing processes, quality and/or reduce costs. Uses knowledge gained through years of experience to explain to suppliers the tooling, dies, fixtures, etc., needed to improve processes.

* Determines adaptability of existing corporate applications and prepares feasibility studies for new applications. Coordinates various existing systems and operations with new systems and operations to ensure compatibility and directs others to modify systems accordingly to implement total package.

* Manages multiple capital project implementations and associated forecasts and financial analyses.

* Leads or participates in FMEA, material delivery and presentation, process modeling, value stream mapping, virtual build, and other manufacturing engineering activities.

* Provides leadership in the implementation of integrated technologies within the factory. Develops individual presentations on all integration projects and prepares and establishes priorities for cost effectiveness. Performs liaison duties with various functional areas to promote smooth transition of new and revised corporate and plant systems and operations.

* Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc., in performing assigned duties.

* This position is responsible for the implementation of major systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.

Basic Requirements:

* Four-year Bachelor's degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial) from an accredited college or university combined with a minimum of 5 years experience manufacturing experience in manufacturing engineering roles.

* Four-year Bachelors non-technical degree with 10 years of experience of manufacturing experience in manufacturing engineering roles

* Requires considerable experience in the various manufacturing disciplines gained through previous staff and/ or supervisory assignments.

Top candidates will also have:

* Diesel engine knowledge

* Knowledge of Caterpillar product structure

* Experience in Teamcenter Lifecycle Visualization

* Proficiency modeling software such as Creo

* Prior experience in similar role

* Lean Certification such as Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

* Requires analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communications skills
