Job Description:
This role is responsible for championing facility quality programs in adherence with the Caterpillar QMS at the RIOP- Decatur facility. The incumbent will implement quality improvement programs to help guide the production and management workforce on their zero-defect journey. This role will also facilitate BU quality system registrations (ISO9000/CQMS), the Gage Management program for the facility and Manufacturing Systems Integration implementation.
Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Develop and implement quality policies. Ensure the BU quality systems, strategies and plans are linked in a coordinated manner to enable common strategic goals and communicate them in a clear and understandable manner to resources within and supporting the BU objectives.
* Champion Customer Acceptance Validation (CAV) improvements to meet facility objectives.
* Organize and facilitate regular meetings with department heads to share results on Product and Process Quality, Certifications, etc.
* Formulate, develop, and implement quality strategies to accelerate Durability and Reliability (Defects per Unit at 2 and 12 months in service) improvements to achieve product goals. Develop innovative strategies to reduce and control internal and external cost of poor quality factors (scrap, rework, warranty, etc).
* Provide leadership and support to the inspection team including manpower planning and efficiency improvement.
* Promote BIQ at the facility including implementation of New, Found, Missed analysis and improving the execution of the BIQ plays to reduce internal defects.
* Lead team in development of cost effective maintenance and control of facility gage program. Supports projects targeting gage reduction and process improvements.
* Manage both the internal and external certification programs ensuring facility meets standards required to maintain ISO/CQMS certifications. Works with various internal and external groups to establish a quality plan, which ensures optimum customer satisfaction, audits plan to provide feedback to the groups on adherence to the plan. Organizes teams, leads and/or participates in solving various problems, determines the root cause of the problem and proposes solutions.
* The incumbent is responsible for the training, motivation and development of employees. The position supervises or manages a work unit of management or salaried employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or manufacturing plus familiarity with company manufacturing facilities, processes, and equipment.
* 8+ years of job-related experience
Top candidates will also have:
* Previous leadership experience; 2+ years of supervision in manufacturing setting
* Demonstrated ability to lead diverse, cross functional teams to deliver complex project deliverables.
* Good interpersonal skills are required to develop a cooperative team relationship with others inside and outside the department.
* Analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Familiarity with ISO/CQMS certification programs and auditing.
* 6 Sigma experience as Black Belt would be highly desired.
* 5+ years of Prime Product manufacturing experience.
* Skilled in GD&T and Metrology.
* Drive Train and Lower Power Train design and/or manufacturing experience.
* Process integration software deployment experience
