FUNCTION OVERVIEW:
The Manufacturing Technology Architect is responsible for driving the transformation of Whirlpools World Class Manufacturing software and automation solutions in the Information Technology/Operational Technology (IT/OT) environment. This role will support the IT and data system architecture within manufacturing the environment with an emphasis on Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The role will be accountable for the deployment of existing templated capabilities, driving the direction of new functionality and enhancements, as well as building a roadmap for retirement of legacy systems. In addition to technical responsibilities, this position will direct the work of four to five senior technology deployment leads.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work with business units, application developers, security, and infrastructure engineering to troubleshoot, design and build application integrations that support critical manufacturing processes across operations, quality, and materials.
* Provide subject matter experience with MOM/MES, industrial automation and system integration practices.
* Oversee region wide MES/MOM integration strategy and roadmap, influence global MES/MOM roadmap.
* Influence architectural strategy as technology evolves, with an emphasis on re-usable, scalable, and supportable solutions.
* Work with data strategy and analytics teams globally to ensure alignment with the current and future architectures for the integration of MES solutions with ERP, plant automation and data analytics platforms.
* Assist in feasibility studies, produce high-level business models, and help prepare business cases.
* Consult with manufacturing business with regards to process pain points. Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact to other business processes and system priorities.
* Assist in the vendor selection process and provide recommendations for investment in technology solutions, supported by appropriate ROI, total cost of ownership, and/or cost benefit analyses.
* Work cross functionally with plant, IT, security, 3rd party suppliers and infrastructure teams to drive and complete complex integrations
* Work with a team to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment
* Travel as necessary up to 25%
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology or engineering
* 10+ years manufacturing execution systems experience; SCADA, MES and MOM
* 5+ years of SAP and ERP/MES integration techniques and best practices
* 10+ years experience with industrial control systems
* 5+ years of experience supporting software development projects; past roles may include systems integrator, software developer, and/or systems engineer
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Enterprise Skills:
* Working with teams to develop and maintain architecture and design of plant automation systems
* Familiarity with industry standards, such as ANSI/ISA-95 and ANSI/ISA-88
* Project management methodologies and software life cycles; Agile, Scrum, Kanban
* SCADA, MOM/MES and PAC/PLCs troubleshooting, development and sustainability
* Knowledge of development environment and support tools
* Experience in high volume discrete manufacturing as well as an understanding of procurement, quality management and material flow; especially in the context of systems and data
Technical Skills:
* Experience managing technologies such as OPC, Angular, SQL, HMI, KAFKA
* Kepware, OSI PI, Ignition 7.9, 8.0, Sepasoft MES modules
* GSuite, Microsoft Office
* Technology architectures across ERP, MES, SCADA and Cloud
* Enterprise infrastructure, Windows Server, Cisco Networking, Backup & Recovery, Wireless Technologies
* Enterprise OT/IT security skills and experience
