POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Manager, US Payroll Tax will have a minimum of 7 years intensive payroll tax experience and serve as the subject matter expert for all activities related to payroll tax. The Sr Manager, US Payroll Tax will possess expert knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and overall regulatory compliance. Working with our payroll tax vendor, this role will respond to tax notices, audits and special requests from employees, other departments, third party vendors and regulatory agencies. Lead the Year-end/Year-begin project for US payroll; stay current on the ever-changing payroll tax environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a team of tax specialists
Lead quarterly tax reconciliation and filing processes to meet statutory Federal, State and Local deadlines
Calculate, balance, and reconcile payroll calculations, and resolves calculation errors and discrepancies that pertain to payroll taxes
Audits payroll tax information for accuracy on a monthly, quarterly and federal basis
Ensure compliance with all taxing authorities
Maintain all tax set ups
Review and process payroll tax adjustments
Sets up new tax jurisdictions due to acquisitions or remote associates changing companies or locations
Ensure completeness and accuracy of all third-party payroll tax returns and filings
Lead year-end processes and reconciliations
Support complex payroll projects (integrations, acquisitions, etc.) and technical tax upgrades
Serve as a lead internal resource for all payroll tax inquiries and resolves discrepancies
Research, interpret, and understand existing or revised tax codes, laws, or forms
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and work-related experience
5+ years of experience working in a progressive Payroll Tax position
Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures including pay calculations, tax reciprocity rules and regulations, and tax geographical location taxation rules
Experience with federal, state, and local payroll taxes for a single large employer or multi-employer in multiple states required
Knowledge of regulations pertaining to Non-Exempt and Exempt workers, Federal and State DOL, FLSA,
Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
