Are you looking for an opportunity to build software and systems for some of the biggest data centers that humanity has ever created? The Azure Physical Networking team is responsible for designing and building the software defined network infrastructure that powers millions of servers around the globe for Azure, Office, Bing and other Microsoft cloud services. Azure Physical Networking is at the forefront of Hyperscale Cloud Computing and runs one of the largest datacenter networks in the world.
We write the code for the software defined network virtual-switches on the servers and the firmware for high-speed packet transformation with FPGA-based hardware accelerators. We started SONiC - Software for Open Networking in the Cloud - now an industry-wide open source network operating system that controls the switches in our data centers and many other clouds. We build the distributed systems that continuously monitor the network and ensure it remains healthy by automatically remediating problems. We do the data science to characterize the behavior of our networks, and we build transport protocols that provide industry-leading performance. We design the cloud-scale networks and data centers that provide terabits of connectivity at low-cost and high-reliability.
