The Role: We are looking for a Data Scientist to help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data and ultimately make smarter, better-informed decisions. The ideal candidate will have exceptionally strong analytics skills to identify opportunities that could benefit from predictive or prescriptive analytics, determine what data and analytics are required, and build the required solutions.

This role requires a unique combination of skills as you will need to be able to gain the trust of therapeutic area and regional colleagues, have an innovative mindset to think through novel ways to help us make better decisions and execute on the idea by gathering the necessary data and building the necessary statistical models. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual with strong business acumen along with technical competence. The ideal person will have an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong understanding of healthcare data & technology, strong quantitative skills, and the ability to identify & use new customer data sources to improve business results.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Partner with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to use data to inform strategic choices.

* Manage external vendors.

* Identify novel, non-overlapping data sources and innovative tools to address business needs.

* Apply understanding of the business to recommend and develop appropriate analytics solutions or to inform decision-making.

* Develop appropriate statistical analyses (e.g., regression analysis, factor analysis, predictive modeling) and apply analytical techniques to draw inferences and conclusions from analyses.

* Design and implement healthcare-centric data visualizations, advise on trends.

* Analyze and discuss project results and recommended actions with senior and executive leadership teams.

* Collaborate and partner with peers in other functions (Human Health, Center for Observational and Real-world Evidence, etc.) on cross-functional analytics projects and solutions.

Education Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree required (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or equivalent).

* Advanced degree in statistics, computer science, economics, actuarial science or related field strongly preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

* Five (5) or more years of relevant experience, including business analysis, advanced statistics or quantitative/qualitative research.

* Experience in the appropriate use of statistical tools including correlation, regression, factorial analyses and modeling.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* The high degree of initiative, innovative thinking and intellectual curiosity.

* Strong presentation skills.

* Ability to translate complex analyses into actionable insights and recommended actions.

* Ability to succinctly communicate complex ideas and analytical results to internal and external stakeholders.

* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

* High integrity.

* Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships.

* Ability to build trust and influence decisions of peers and leaders within and across our research laboratories and Human Health.

* Ability to toggle between strategy and details.

* Ability to lead in situations of uncertainty.

* Ability to manage concurrent projects of varying complexity and timelines.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

* Demonstrated ability to develop a strategy and execute complex initiatives.

* Demonstrated experience in building cross-functional partnerships and working across global teams.

* Experience using real-world data.

* Pharmaceutical experience.

* Technical skills in R, Python, SQL, SAS, or related software.

* Experience with visualization software such as Tableau, Spotfire, Qlik or related software.

Position can be worked remotely with some travel into the corporate offices.
