POSITION SUMMARY
The VP of Practice Development is responsible for high quality growth of the Employee Benefits practice. This includes networking, retaining and growing revenue and leveraging cross-selling opportunities for Marsh & McLennan Agency | Michigan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Responsible for initiating and maintaining contact with key business decision makers in person, over telephone and/or email, utilizing existing connections and leveraging Salesforce for outbound prospecting and lead generation.
* Identify key decision makers and their roles in prospect organizations. Purchase decision may rest with HR leadership, CFO, CEO, Controller, etc.
* Conducts first call sales meetings on prospective clients coming through company marketing channels. Proficient at assessing viability of new business opportunities, through investigation of current broker relationship, services currently received and value added services MMA-MI Health & Benefits may provide in collaboration with Chief Marketing Officer.
* Develop and grow productive relationships with prospects using effective probing, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
* Build relationships by inviting select prospects to key agency and industry events.
* Partner with VPs and SVPs by introducing practitioner and following through to a finalist presentation.
* Competent in MMA scope of capabilities and services to effectively qualify and promote our company to prospective clients.
* Develop an annual business plan to achieve growth and contact retention, reviewed with Chief Marketing Officer.
* Create outreach and entertainment opportunities (DSHRM, GAASHRM, Detroit Economic Club, et al) to further forge relationships with key prospects.
* Actively promotes the services of Marsh & McLennan Agency | Michigan.
* Utilizes Salesforce in a timely manner to direct and manage email activity, contact information, notes from each call, names, addresses, and potential reactions or interest in MMA Michigan.
* Maintain an appropriate level of industry and market knowledge and support expertise to quickly identify prospect needs and problems. Partner with Commercial and other MMA business units to advance deeper ties to the enterprise.
* Follow data entry standards and practices (promotes consistency for all users). Maintain a uniform set of guidelines while pursuing and evaluating new ideas & applications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
* Bachelors Degree.
* Seasoned Sales Executive with minimum 7 years experience.
* Licensed in both Health & Benefits and Property & Casualty.
* Strong team work skills.
* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel; willing to attend training session if needed for other applications.
* Salesforce experience preferred; willing to attend training session to ensure accurate usage.
* Ability to use Internet, print publications and other tools for research and informational purposes.
* Excellent interpersonal communication and telephone skills required for successful daily interaction over the phone
* Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, whether in person, over the telephone or via email and written communications.
* Ability to think and respond quickly.
* Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service, proven history in a sales type of role.
* Self-starter, with excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and experience in/interest in knowledge of benefits industry (competitors, region, and end users) will be highly regarded
* Ability to conceptualize and communicate employee group benefit products.
* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
