Job Duties and Tasks for: Cargo and Freight Agent
As a dock worker the main responsibility is to transfer cargo from a trailer to the dock as safely and efficiently as possible.
Must be able to lift 50 + pounds if necessarily
They also have to make sure the trailer wheels are choked at all times before loading and unloading
In addition, dockworkers inspect the cargo for signs of damage or loss, and record shipping and receiving documents.
Other duties might include keeping the dock clean and fully functioning
Must have some type of knowledge of data entry and using any type of scanned gun such as MGMS, FSI, and LOGIS, WLMS
There are no formal educational requirements for becoming a dockworker, though you may need a forklift certification
