The RN Lead performs and direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The OR RN Lead supports change and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of the departments goals and objectives.

Reports to: OR Manager

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

Arizona State RN licensure or compact state license required on hire

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) on hire

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the Nursing Process for patients in the following age groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.

Ability to conduct a needs assessment for various disciplines of staff and works collaboratively with manger to create a learning plan to resolve any apparent deficiencies.

Assists with orientation of new RNs to the service line.

The ability to document thoroughly, following regulatory and hospital requirements and teach appropriate documentation to staff.

Assists in training and developing nursing staff and ensure all deadlines have been met or communicated to director/manager.

In collaboration with the Perioperative program acts as a lead within the service line to promote continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts, including audits to validate efforts. Responsible for leading and promoting the departmental goals.

Responsible for identifying equipment and soft supply needs required for surgical cases in advance of the scheduled case. Oversees ordering and procurement of special service equipment and supplies.

Demonstrates clinical/technical competency. Promotes staff and patient satisfaction.
