As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Current licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing. Can practice as a LPN Applicant per the Virginia Department of Health guidelines.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to perform delegated aspects of the nursing process. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering patient age and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include Assessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.

Certifications:
AHA BLS certification required.
Required Skills
Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time. May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending, squatting and kneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific unit.
