DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Serve as Teradata database administrator for production databases, responsible for day-to-day operational activities, such as backups and performance monitoring. Responsible for troubleshooting production issues, failed jobs, and end-user SQL support. Detect and remediate security vulnerabilities. Craft and implement shell scripts to automate manual tasks and reports. Engage and partner with Teradata vendor, planning and scheduling of database maintenance activities and supporting Application Development teams and various platform owners, such as ETL and BI tools. Interact with executive and senior management for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and remediation actions for high-impact platform issues. Responsible for end-to-end incident and problem resolution. Generate process improvements to continuously improve the stability and performance of the platform. Identify system bottlenecks and improvement opportunities. Support database patching and upgrades. Prioritize workload and provide timely and accurate resolutions. Responsible for database outage management, including planning and execution of monthly maintainance windows.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Mathematics, or related field, plus 5 years of database administration experience with Teradata databases, or related experience; OR Masters degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Mathematics, or related field, plus 2 years of database administration experience with Teradata databases, or related experience.
Skills Required: Must have experience with Teradata database administration. Must have demonstrated knowledge of Unix/Linux scripting. Must have SQL tuning experience. Must have experience with TASM workload management. Must have demonstrated knowledge of backup and recovery techniques. Must have Teradata Query Grid experience. Must have experience supporting production environments. Must have experience with Teradata utilities TPT, FastLoad, and FastExport. Must have demonstrated knowledge of very large database (Big Data) warehouse environments. Employer will accept any amount of professional experience with the required skills.
