This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2020/10/nand-memory-news-q-a.pdf). The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. As a Host Software Engineer, you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK hynix.

In this position, you join a fast-paced team in engineering the host software stacks for Intel Solid State Drives (SSD) products. You will contribute to the development and test of host software solutions and integrating them with Intel SSD firmware and validation environments. The primary focus is on enabling our future generations of SSD products for our key customers. You will work in an agile development environment across organization boundaries and gain valuable experience while contributing to our product roadmap.

As a Software Engineer, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Engage in SW requirements analysis, design reviews, and test plan reviews
* Develop, review, document, and maintain SW source code in C/C++ conforming to the organization's coding standards and aligned with project schedules
* Perform unit and system level testing including failure analysis and debug of issues as part of development and validation phases
* Review customer and architecture specifications, create lightweight technical documentation
* Engage with SSD FW engineering stakeholders to support SW/FW integration and system validation
* Contribute to organization process and tool improvement initiatives
* Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous learning

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed below would be obtained through a combination of schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field

Minimum Requirements::

* 5+ years of experience programming in C/C+
* 5+ years of experience developing software in an embedded systems environment
* 5+ years of experience integrating SW/FW/HW products and solutions
* 5+ years of experience with industry-standard software development toolchains and workflows: IDEs and Debuggers (e.g. Visual Studio Code or similar), Agile/Scrum Development, CI/CD Pipelines, JIRA (or similar) Bug tracking.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proficiency in 'C'-based SW development tools and methods
* Linux driver development, test and debug experience
* Enterprise storage interface protocols (e.g., SATA, SAS, PCIe, and NVMe), tools and libraries (e.g., SPDK
* Design and development of user mode storage applications using SPDK
* Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and processes for delivering software with high quality
* Experience in technical requirements definition and traceability

Non-Volatile Solutions Memory Group: The Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is a worldwide organization that delivers NAND flash memory products for use in Solid State Drives (SSDs), portable memory storage devices, digital camera memory cards, and other devices.
