Position Summary
This position in conjunction with the Infection Control Committee is administratively responsible for the design, implementation, of on-going performance improvement of the hospital-wide Infection Control program. Serves as a consultant, facilitator, and proponent of change in order to provide quality health care within the hospital.

Facility Based Description
Regional Medical Center of San Jose is a 264 bed acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital provides a host of technologically-advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. It is a certified Chest Pain Center, county-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center, designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and is certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care.

Qualifications
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1) CBIC Certification.
2) Current California RN License if candidate is a nurse.
3) m(ASCP) Certification is candidate is a Microbiologist or Medical Technologist.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1) 3-5 years experience in Infection Control.
2) Management experience in a healthcare setting.
3) Clinical nursing experience recommended. Experience in critical care, emergency department and OR preferred but not required.
4) Experience teaching adults and development of education tools and programs preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
1) BA/BS Degree and/or equivalent capability through experience and/or education.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Knowledge:
1) Current Infection Control standards, practices, requirements, regulations, & recommendations of Federal, State, and County regulatory bodies as necessary to perform Infection Control duties. (TJC, OSHA, CDC, APIC).
2) Organizational & functions of acute care hospital with comprehensive range of patient care experience. 3) Aware of policy and procedures regarding chain of command, job responsibilities, & hospital performance improvement.
Skills:
1) Ability to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision while exercising effective decision making initiative, diplomacy, tact, confidentiality, delegation and organizational skills.
2) Strong written and verbal communication skills.
3) Ability to design, create, and display reports for timely, accurate and actionable performance improvement studies.
4) Computer skills to include Microsoft office, excel.
5) Use of Electronic Medical Record.
