Job Description:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operations Management, the Sr. Associate, Field Engineering position is responsible for support in the full -cycle support of our family of satellite based communications systems (INMARSAT and VSAT) and affiliated equipment. This may include integration, installation, repair and trouble-shooting, communication with the customer of status of repair, and vendors concerning RMA of their components.
* Intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area.
* Other duties may be assigned
* Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area.
* Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures Identifies and addresses changes within own job area.
* Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results.
* Configuration and repair of VSAT systems in support of the RMA process
* Component and system level testing to validate performance of design
* Diagnose, document and detail technical faults and the repair process in TIPQA
* Accurately estimate required parts and labor hours
* Assist Sales team with customer demos
* Installations and preventative maintenance at customer sites
* On-Call phone support
* Contribute as a member of a project team and execute team direction.
Basic Qualifications:
* Associate degree in electrical or communications engineering preferred; applicable military experience will be considered in lieu of a degree, with a minimum of six (6) years of prior experience.
* Minimum two (2) years hands-on experience in installation, repair and/or use of satellite communications required
* 2-3 Years of experienced with the use of database management, mechanical design of wireless communication equipment, and complex communication systems
* 1-2 Years of experienced traveling to Customer sites' to perform troubleshooting and repair
* Ability to obtain security clearance is required;
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical or communications engineering
* IP networking: VLANs, DHCP, DNS, etc.
* iDirect Modems/hardware experience
* Familiar using TIPQA Quality Assurance/Manufacturing Execution software
* Active Secret Clearance is highly desired; ability to obtain security clearance is required;
* Ability to follow process documents and manage time according to workload
