Job Description:

The Chief Engineer will report directly to the AVS Greenville Engineering Director and will serve as the Engineering lead across multiple programs and IRAD efforts. The Chief Engineer will help design solutions that meet customer requirements across various pursuits and awarded programs. The position will also require the individual to work closely with all aspects of the engineering team (Systems, Aeronautical, Software), as well as Program Management and Senior Leadership teams to help ensure the successful execution of programs. In addition, the position will require frequent interaction with customer communities, in both acquisition and operational phases, as the technical lead. The role will work closely with the program PMO to ensure execution of the program to the planned engineering schedule. This includes risk management for the program. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for reporting technical program status to engineering leadership.

Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and a minimum of 10 (10) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced technical or management degrees are desired.

Experience with the one or more of the following areas is required: Systems Engineering; Hardware Development; Software Development; Aero Design - (Electrical; Mechanical; Structural); Leadership - Task or IPT Leader and/or Functional Management

Aircraft-platform-based sensor-system development program experience for all program phases, ISR sensor and aircraft communications experience (EO/IR SYSTEMS, SIGINT, COMMUNICATIONS, DATA LINKS, RADAR SYSTEMS, SELF PROTECT SYSTEMS)

Must demonstrate the ability to lead a diverse team of technical subject matter experts and Engineering disciplines

Must be able to effectively interface with program management and customers.

Must have a strong set of core competencies including Problem Solving, Team Leadership, Strategic Thinking / Planning, Communication, IPT / Cross Functional Behavior, Accountability, Critical Thinking, and the highest level of Ethical Conduct.

* Entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities
* Customer/End-User and mission familiarity
* IRAD and Technical Baseline development/management
* Aircraft Modification and Modernization
* Requirements Management
* Communications
* Proposal Development
* Architecting airborne/ground mission system configurations to meet customer needs
* System Integration expertise in coordinating integration and test plans of multiple mission and non-mission systems

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor degree with a minimum of ten (10) years of applicable experience. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of advanced ISR solutions.
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical management experience with progressive advancement in responsibilities leading to technical leadership and/or program management roles
* Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions with clear competitive advantages to complex problems
* Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills; able to present complex technology concepts in a clear and effective manner

Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (TS/SCI) Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
