Description
As part of the Global Data Governance & Capabilities leadership team, the Data Governance Managers actively develop and support a Global Data Governance Program that focuses on Data Governance roles, Data Policies & Standards, Data Quality, and Data Governance metrics. These individuals play a critical role in supporting the standardization of data governance practices across the company, educating teams across the company to establish common data literacy, guiding and assisting with operationalizing the Global Data Governance processes for functional data domains, partnering with business partners to implement and improve data governance processes, and participating on various projects to ensure data governance consistency across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Own, enhance and champion Global Data Governance policies, processes, standards, tools, and guidelines (Data Governance Framework)
* Lead Data Governance Education initiatives to establish data literacy across the company
* Ensure Data Governance policies & standards are followed across the company, within functional data domains as well as master data domains
* Understand, document, and inform GDGS on existing data environment and determine what is uniquely required and where the global opportunities exist
* Primary point of communication and collaboration between Global Data Governance Organization and business partners for governance discussions
* Identify and collaborate with business unit or function data stakeholders to categorize issues/opportunities and to drive data consistency and quality
* Guide project teams and business users on data-related requirements
* Consolidate and communicate data activities occurring within assigned area
* Tightly partner with GDGS peers, Data Process Owners, Data Stewards and Data SME's to operationalize, monitor, and evolve Data Governance practices
* Evaluate and recommend organizational requirements to enable a sustainable governance practice
* Coach and mentor others to ensure understanding and sustainability of Data Stewardship & Governance practices at GMI
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Passion for data governance and driving data quality across an organization
* Influential and credible across business and/or D&T
* Demonstrated understanding of external data trends and industry requirements
* Strong conviction, open to consider alternative points of views
* Resilient change agent; effective communicator, well respected by peers & subordinates
* Able to guide the analysis and discussion of issues facing the GDGS
* Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change across large organizations
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity
* Experience and competence in leading, influencing, coaching and mentoring others
* Experience and comfort in leading when not necessarily a subject matter expert
* Self-starter and self-motivated requiring little support from others
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience managing data driven processes across multiple functions
* Experience with SAP or other data management solutions
* Exposure to and preferably experience with Data Governance

* The preferred location for this role is Minneapolis, MN however remote work-at-home applications within the United States will be considered.
* Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
