Senior Data Scientist (AI/ML)
The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate and execute GDIT's Geospatial Services and Solutions (GSS) business area objectives to deliver AI/ML capabilities to our customers. The position will focus on developing and implementing computer vision solutions to provide image classification, object detection, object tracking, and other ML techniques to solve customer challenges.
The position will lead a small team of data scientists and developers with freedom to develop new solutions and leverage partnerships with industry and government. Our solutions are built using cutting edge AI/ML software and hardware including our on-premise clusters of high performance compute, and direct multi-cloud access to Amazon Web Services and Azure. This team has the opportunity to use newly released open source tools and technology.
Hands on practical experience and willingness to roll-up sleeves and write code is a must.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and demo end-to-end Machine Learning and Deep Learning solutions to a variety of highly complex problems
* Stay in touch with rapidly changing technology and identify opportunities to enhance existing solutions and processes with new capabilities
* Drive good design decisions and continuous improvement on all services, pipelines, processes, models, and algorithms
* Apply strong configuration management and quality control throughout the lifecycle applying MLOps and collaborating with data scientist, infrastructure engineers, and other stakeholders
Requirements:
* Demonstrated experience using analytic methods and methodologies such as probability and statistics, formal modeling, and machine learning on bulk data
* Demonstrated experience using AI/ML tools, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe, and scikit-learn
* Demonstrated experience developing machine learning models on images and full motion video
* Demonstrated experience developing and using Python data analytics packages such as pandas, numpy, scipy, gensim, and scikit-learn
* Demonstrated experience using data pipelines and workflow technologies, such as Apache NiFi
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience
* Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) preferred
