Overview
This position supports development of Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans and procedures and assists with developing and execution of test, training and exercise activities. This position also provides operational support to continuity exercises and activities both in and outside the National Capital Region. The successful candidate will be required to establish consensus among Government internal components and external supported organizations during the planning phase and subsequently monitor required assets and sites for readiness. When necessary, recommend corrective actions and coordinate upgrades, repairs or other actions necessary to maintain readiness.
Responsibilities
Author, update and coordinate Government Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans.
Support develop of training, test and evaluation plans and post event after action reports.
Attend continuity working groups and promulgate meeting minutes.
Support operations and operations center activities as required.
Ability to travel periodically up to 2 weeks within the continental U.S. to support planning, exercise and operational activities and support deployed COOP operations if required.
Qualifications
3 years of experience in operational or continuity planning. Strong writing, oral, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus and diverse and competing requirements. Ability to convey conceptual ideas both written and verbally. Able to lead working groups and brief outcomes to senior officials.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Knowledge principles and practices of COOP and/or emergency management.
Familiarity with Federal doctrinal planning development processes and Federal Continuity Directive -1 (FCD-1) a plus.
