Job Description
The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating and maintaining production schedules and tracking batches through the supply chain and ensure sales order requirements are fulfilled. The position requires a hands-on coordinator who will excel under pressure, is deadline driven while ensuring organization and accuracy
Essential Functions:
* Responsible for production scheduling and capacity planning.
* Prepare daily production schedules utilizing MRP and sales forecasts through all functions of the process chain.
* Lead daily production meeting to evaluate production schedule, backlogs, material shortages, labor requirements, etc.
* Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems
* Develop delivery commitments by coordinating scheduling activities with production team to balance production capacity, productivity, and on-time delivery metrics.
* Develops, publishes and maintains Master Production Schedule for facility.
* Analyze priority orders for material /capacity availability and adjusts productions schedule to ensure on time delivery
* Provide accurate and timely communication of production shortages or delays to customer service team.
* Other duties as assigned
Successful Candidates Will Have:
* Previous working experience with ERP/MRP systems.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proven ability to develop reports and analyze data to initiate problem solving. Must be analytical and data driven in decision making process with strong understanding of excel and data manipulation.
* Must have proven success in a multi-faceted, fast paced job shop environment (low volume/high mix).
* Excellent interpersonal, writing, speaking, coordinating and organizational skills
Supervisory Responsibilities
* This position will not have supervisory responsibilities but at times will lead/direct others in matters of scheduling.
Work Environment
* This position works mainly in a production/manufacturing environment throughout different areas of production. Proper protective equipment is worn, where appropriate.
Physical Demands
* Sitting and standing often.
* Extensive walking around to different areas of production
* Reaching with hands/arms
Job Qualification
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or relevant field preferred.
* APICS CPIM certification (required within 2 years of taking role)
* Incorporating vision into daily actions
* Prioritization
* Strong computer (MS Office, especially MS Excel) and team-working skills are a necessity as well as the ability to multitask.
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The following are preferred, but not required:
* SAP / APO / BW (or equivalent) preferred
* Six Sigma certification and/or certified Lean Practitioner (preferred)
