DaVita is looking for an Infection Preventionist Manager to join our national team. This is a remote position that will support California, Arizona, Nevada, & the Four Corners territory and requires a National Certification (Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) or Board certification in healthcare quality (CPHQ), in addition to a Registered Nurse License. In addition to regularly assigned tasks; this person will adhere to CDC, Federal, and Corporate policies and procedures as it relates to all infection control (including new and rapidly changing Covid-19 processes).

Here's what you can expect as an Infection Precentionist Manager at DaVita:
The Infection Preventionist (IP) oversees all WipeOut-related activities, inclusive of surveillance, prevention, response and management for his/her operating group. Project WipeOut Infections (aka WipeOut) is one of DaVitas top four clinical programs, aimed at reducing mortality and hospitalizations among dialysis patients while promoting patient safety.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Surveillance:

* Acts as the subject matter expert for a DaVita operating group, oversees infectious disease surveillance for outpatient dialysis facilities
* Interprets and applies surveillance definitions to standardize and promote accuracy of publicly reported infection-related outcomes to CDC and CMS
* Performs collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of infection data to evaluate practice in healthcare infection prevention and control
* Reviews surveillance data in order to identify trends/clusters/outliers
* Organizes and disseminates infection-related data on monthly basis to local clinical and operational leadership
* Utilizes surveillance software; informs the development of software enhancements and other enterprise-wide tools

Prevention:

* Works with national clinical leadership and/or local teams to inform, develop and evaluate infection prevention initiatives.
* Implements initiatives at the operating group level through messaging, communications, trainings, etc.
* Promotes scientifically based infection prevention practices with facility teams, physicians, Medical Directors and clinical and operational leadership to drive process and performance
* Educate the field about infectious disease and how to limit their spread.
* Work to prevent healthcare associated infections by isolating sources of infections and limiting their transmission.

Response:

* Collaborates with local team, local clinical and operational leadership and national team during trends, clusters, or recognized outbreaks
* Investigates sentinel events, collaborates on improvement plans with local team and Medical Director, provides follow-up as needed
* Identifies and develops necessary in-service trainings for teammates on proper infection prevention practices when a need for an improvement plan is identified. Collaborates with local team for implementation.
* Promotes appropriate infection prevention plans and protocols with local teams and clinical leadership
* Serves as a local consultant for infection prevention and management
* Identifies and contacts local public health authorities (e.g. DOH) as necessary

Other duties as assigned:

* Promotes WipeOut activities, recommended practices and metrics to aligned internal stakeholders such as, but not limited to, DaVita Clinical Research, Village Health, DaVita laboratories, etc.
* Attends meetings and informs internal process, policy and technical applications as they relate to WipeOut within DaVitas IT department, Compliance and other departments
* Establishes relationships with key external partners, such as the Renal Networks; Promotes WipeOut activities, recommended practice and metrics

Additional Requirements:

* Minimum requirement: ADN, RN, BSN, MSN from accredited school of nursing.
* Preferred education: MPH, MS, MSc, MHS, MSN from accredited school of public health/nursing
* Diplomat of an accredited course in infection control and epidemiology
* Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) or Board certification in healthcare quality (CPHQ). If not presently certified, must be certified
* 2 or more years working in nephrology nursing
* Experience leading and directing multiple dialysis facilities within a large geography
* Experience working remotely and high autonomy and strategic vision
* Preferred 2 or more years experience in infection control or dedicated infection prevention role
* Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite projects (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
