International Tax Senior Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Cepheid is looking for a self-motivated tax professional to join our tax department at Cepheid HQ to support our fast-growing company. This role will support the global business and operational expansions and the related activities by leading and driving tax relevant workstreams. The ideal candidate is a driven self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment to lead complex global operational projects, and is passionate about applying tax skills in operational settings to function as a valued business advisor and partner to cross functional teams. The candidate should be someone who can see the big picture while also be diligent with details.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support global business expansions including Go-To-Market initiatives and manufacturing capacity expansions. Work with Cepheid and Danaher teams as well as external advisors to perform tax and operational analysis and recommend entity structure, supply chain model, transfer pricing model, and other set up for new entities and/or new functions to achieve tax and operational optimization and compliance. Drive implementation of proposed strategies.
* Manage global permanent establishment (PE) exposures created by various Go-To-Market or expansion activities. Perform PE analysis and ensure mitigating measures are implemented.
* Prepare intercompany agreements for new entities and/or new functions, and manage relevant operational transfer pricing including set up and review of relevant models and calculations to ensure appropriate margins are met.
* Work with regional teams to ensure appropriate process in place for indirect tax compliance and optimization.
* Support pursuit of US and non-US incentive programs in connection with business expansions
* Support special projects as needed
* Support process improvements through technological or innovative solutions

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

* Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

* 8+ years of related experience in accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) and/or multinational corporation, preferably a combination of both
* Minimum 4 years of experience in international tax, M&A tax, and/or general tax planning
* Master's Degree in Tax, JD, or CPA is a plus

Knowledge and skills:

* Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
* Strong sense of ownership, with demonstrated ability to apply tax knowledge and professional judgment to lead multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
* Solid understanding of fundamental international tax concepts such as transfer pricing, withholding tax, permanent establishment, and tax treaty analysis
* Mid-to-advanced usage of Excel and ability to create models and navigate new technological solutions. Experience with SAP and Alteryx a plus
