The Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Applications (TCMA) team based in Huntsville, Alabama has new opportunities for individuals who want to grow their technical expertise on complex programs and be a part of an innovative and fast-paced avionics business area. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. Our team focuses on creating avionics solutions for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the integration of various radios and surveillance equipment for domestic and international military customers.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Associate Director of Systems Engineering to join our TCMA team in Huntsville, Alabama. The successful candidate will manage a multi-disciplinary engineering organization.

Job Responsibilities

* Direct multi-disciplinary organization of systems, software, hardware and project engineers in the development of missionized systems

* Coach and develop direct staff of engineering managers and program chiefs

* Manage long term staffing forecast and plan to support multiple business portfolios

* Oversee department talent acquisition, retention and succession planning for key roles

* Set department vision and goals to support broader business and organizational strategy

* Serve as engineering focal to program management and business development leaders

* Build and maintain customer relationships to engage on emerging issues and develop future opportunities

* Consistently produce superior results, keeping projects on schedule and contributing to a positive work environment

* Ensure compliance with Collins Management System, in particular approve and review department bids and proposals

Required Qualifications

* US Citizenship is required. Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

* This position requires a Bachelors degree in the appropriate discipline and 12 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required.

* Experience developing strategies to improve Systems Engineering processes

* Experience identifying and advising executive leadership on strategic technical imperatives

* Experience mentoring/leading senior engineers

* Experience working technical projects that span multiple business units

* Experience assessing/bidding/winning future business opportunities

* Subject matter expert with extensive experience and industry knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

* Cost Account Management (CAM) experience

* Author of Technical publications

* Surveillance standards (DO-260B, DO-317A, AIMS 1000B) Knowledge Base

* DO-178 Design Assurance Level C (DAL-C) experience

* Pro Line Fusion Display experience

* Mil-Std-1553B bus protocol experience

* Ethernet bus protocol experience (TCP/UDP)

* Military Radio and/or Surveillance Knowledge Base
