About the role
Magellan is a global business transformation program accompanying a move of our ERP system from SAP ECC to S4 HANA. Magellans goal is to simplify, standardize and modernize our core business processes, enabling BSC to better leverage the power of data and to position our business for profitable and sustainable growth.
The API Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design and build of API based integration objects as part of the Magellan program. This leader must be a balanced thinker that weighs technical, business, financial and operational perspectives. This exciting role encompasses all responsibilities required to build a modern API development practice that aligns with the Magellan program vision. This will require collaboration across IT and the Magellan workstreams.
The Program will have the following phases; Project Solution Confirmation, Pre- Project Portfolio Surge activity, Requirements, Design, Build and Testing, Deployment to post Go Live support and ongoing sustaining.
Your responsibilities include:
* Oversees the design, build and test of API based integration objects as part of the Magellan program
* Provides technical input to the API Architect in designing and implementing a reliable and scalable API management platform
* Works collaboratively with the Integration COE and non-SAP application owners to ensure alignment and prioritization of goals and resources in planning and building APIs for remediation, development, testing and deployment
* Contributes to the teams long-term technical roadmap while helping mentor members of the engineering team
* Participates in pre and post deployment exercises to ensure seamless promotion of functionality throughout environments
* Defines and enforces best practices and coding standards for the API development practice
* Partners with scrum teams to coordinate the activities and resources to make sure the solution including non-SAP applications is integrated from end to end to support the business needs.
* Partners with PMO and scrum masters to apply the lean and agile principles in the delivery of integration capabilities.
* Partners with other enabling functions in Magellan to coordinate the solution design, build, test and deployment activities including Tech Arch, Analytics, Test Management, Deployment, etc.

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Demonstrated experience with designing and building API architecture in the context of large-scale SAP implementation programs
* Experience in developing RESTful APIs and Microservices
* Experience with container and orchestration frameworks such as Docker and Kubernetes
* Self-starter with strong, proactive work ethic and fast learner
* Proven ability to effectively manage multiple competing IT priorities in a fast paced, regulated environment
* Proven experience developing and maintaining a strong relationship with internal stakeholders, IT partners and software vendors
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
* Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to effectively communicate with executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS in MIT, etc.)
* Experience with S/4 HANA and SAP API Business Hub
* Experience with IIB and/or other middleware platforms such as Mulesoft
* Experience with IBM API Connect
* AWS experience is a plus
