Description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) position at AdventHealth South Overland Park in Kansas.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Nursing Officer has comprehensive responsibility for the assessment, problem identification, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of all processes which impact the quality and quantity of care delivered to the patients at their assigned facility. Provides consultation to influence identified plans, enhance the abilities of others, and affect change in the organization. The CNO directs the evaluation of outcomes to ensure that the quality of practice delivered by the facility is directed at improving care delivery and population outcomes. He/she interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peer and colleagues and collaborates with all levels of nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession, and acts as an advocate for the protections and rights of individuals, families, communities, populations, healthcare providers, nurses, and other professions and institutions and organizations, especially related to health and safety. Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics, the ANA Scope and Standard for Nursing Practice, and the AONE Nurse Executive Competencies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Principle Duties and Job Responsibilities:

Provides overall direction for all hospital departments including nursing.

Develops goals and objectives consistent with the hospital mission and goals to serve as the foundation for all functions and progress of assigned departments.

Assesses, organizes and plans departmental activities.

Establishes a written organization plan which reflects the management functions and organization relationship of the assigned departments and delineates their relationship to the President/CEO, medical staff and other departments as appropriate.

Establishes and develops, in conjunction with members of the nursing staff, standards of nursing practice and standards of patient care that guide the provision of nursing care required by all patients served by the hospital.

Develops, implements and evaluates staffing, supplies/equipment and capital budgets for assigned departments.

Defines departmental policies and procedures and assists the management team in their development and implementation.

Provides guidance and direction to the management team on issues of staff management, budget implementation and professional practice.

Determines the standards and procedures for the recruitment, selection promotion and terminations of team member in his/her departments.

Ensures that there is a job description for every level of team member in assigned departments, and similarly for nursing staff in accordance with the scope of practice, degree of education, experience and State licensing acts.

Develops a staffing plan which provides guidelines for the optimum utilization of nursing staff in accordance with established parameters.

Directs the development of the orientation and staff education program necessary to maintain established standards of practice.

Directs the assessment and improvement of the established nursing care delivery system.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Demonstrated professional competency in communication and relationship building

Demonstrated strong understanding and knowledge of the health care environment, including clinical practice and regulatory

Demonstrated leadership competence and expertise

Demonstrated strong business skills

Education, Experience, and Licensure Required:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN); MSN preferred

Ten (10) years of experience in nursing with five (5) years experience in leadership roles in comparable healthcare setting

Current Kansas license as a registered professional nurse or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Kansas licensure endorsement

National certification in Nursing Administration preferred
