Software Development Engineer I

We are looking for an experienced engineer that has a strong desire to construct and deliver tools and processes that will drive the availability and site reliability of our platform to offer travelers everywhere the lowest possible prices, the best available selection, and the best user experience for shopping and purchasing travel. What you'll do:

* Design and build software by writing clean and thoroughly tested code

* Improve quality, delivery and operation & support aspects of software

* Work closely with Technical Product Manager to define roadmaps and backlogs

* Analyse, debug and resolve production and non-production issues

* Provide direction to peers, where applicable

* Be part of a global team of engineers working towards shared goals

* Work with cross-functional teams to deliver products on time with high quality

* Develop in an environment where the definition of done includes unit testing, code review, and integration testing

Who you are:

* Ability to code and script using a wide variety of open source technologies and tools to deliver clean and highly performant solutions

* Experience with standard methodologies building and maintaining large application infrastructure

* Ability to influence and drive adoption of operational best practices

* Being comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment

* Strong problem-solving capabilities, especially under pressure

* Confidence in solving difficult engineering challenges and a solid can-do mentality

* 1-3 years of experience in Software Development, Engineering roles required specifically on JVM based languages

* Strong Server side development using Java, delivering large scale REST services or micro-services using Cloud architecture And GraphQL will be a big plus

* Experience working with a web server or server framework such as Spring or NodeJS/Express

* Familiarity with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, TravisCI, or TeamCity

* Familiarity with JavaScript quality and testing tools, such as ESLint, Mocha, QUnit, Selenium, and PhantomJS

* Self-starter and quick learner possessing exceptional attitude, aptitude, and ability to adapt to changes

* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a related technical subject area
