Job Description

Thrivents summer law clerk program is designed to give law students meaningful work in Thrivents law department, which is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, offering interesting challenges and valuable in-house legal experience to the right candidate. Thrivents in-house legal department provides summer clerks with significant support and growth opportunities during their time in the office. Clerks will have the opportunity to learn about the areas of law which affect Thrivents business.

Responsibilities will include one of more of the following:

* Research and analysis in a variety of legal areas including nonprofit law, tax, employment law, marketing and promotions law, intellectual property, social media law, and general business law.
* Assist staff attorneys as they provide services to the organizations.
* Draft advice memoranda and legal documents under the supervision of experienced staff attorneys.
* Attend and participate in meetings with in-house counsel for hands on experience providing legal advice to a Fortune 500 company
* Other duties as may be necessary to support law department

Position Requirements

* Currently enrolled in second year of law school in a three-year program.
* Excellent academic record in law school and in undergraduate studies.
* Relevant course work preferred.
* Candidates must have the ability to work full time in the summer. Part time work during the following school year may also be available.
* Excellent research and communication skills
* Candidates must be able to work in the United States for indefinite period without sponsorship

* Interns coming from greater than 50 miles from campus are eligible for subsidized housing and relocation stipend.
