Job Description

Responsibilities

The Record Specialist is responsible for maintaining, retrieving, and transporting of all hospital patient information including Radiology files, Medical Records, and Cardiovascular files.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of functions including, but not limited to, answering inquiries, assisting with completion of release of information forms, explaining ROI process, resolving problems and interacting with patients, physician offices, and outside agencies to provide film, resolve chart issues, manage onbase misfiles, monitor error queues.

Coordinating the need for copies of films and records with outside copy service. Performing data entry functions to track each request. Representing the hospital in a professional manner using excellent customer service practices in performing all duties.

Ensuring that all Inpatient, Outpatient, ambulatory ED and DAC records are received in the department, prepped, scanned and quality checked and indexed. They are also responsible to round on the inpatient Nursing unit and scan on the unit any documents that they collect. Operating the high speed scanner and flatbed scanners and performing the daily weekly and monthly required maintenance.

The Record Specialist is also responsible for knowing the death certificate, AVS and front desk process.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED (Required).

Experience and Skills:

1 Year Electronic Medical Record experience (Preferred).

0-1 Year Medical Terminology (Preferred).

1-3 Years Good verbal and written and computer communication skills, detail oriented (Preferred).

Required Skills: Excellent Communications Skills, Excellent Interpersonal Skills, General Clerical Skills, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Multi Line Telephone Operational Skills, Detailed oriented with speed and accuracy, Self motivated to complete tasks.
