Thermo Fisher Scientifics Global Procurement is looking for a senior category manager, capital procurement with strong project management, financial, and cross-functional skills to support our capital investment and implementation activities. Successful candidates will be natural self-starters and will be comfortable supporting large and complex projects from engineering concept through commissioning.

Core Responsibilities
* Build business partner relationships with internal stakeholders to assist in the establishment of capital sourcing goals, processes, execution plans, and ways of working
* Collaborate with operations and finance leadership on early strategic initiative planning to support capital investment, ensuring sourcing decisions are consistent with overall Company strategy, policy and needs
* Drive execution of project portfolio setting strategy across all divisions, aligning program standards, compliance controls, and governance to maximize investment value
* Develop financial business models to understand the total cost of ownership and revenue generation to support capital investment decisions
* Serve as the link between the procurement function and business capital planning to identify opportunities to deliver additional value
* Establish contracting strategies, insuring that both internal and external teams and resources have the necessary tools and structure
* Balance project risk and uncertainty through risk management and mitigation plans.
* Centralize program standards, compliance controls, and governance to improve project accountability
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelors Degree, preferably in life sciences or engineering disciplines; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
* 10+ years of demonstrated large capital project experience in complex manufacturing and/or automation
* A proven track record of cost reduction and productivity improvements; ability to influence and drive change while building solid relationships with our businesses and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
* Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement the procurement process, system, and structure in a fast pace complex environment
* Prior experience functioning in a matrixed environment with global or multi-national sites and team
Demonstrated ability to translate tactical business plans into strategic and operational plans
