Summary

Completes patient care assessment, evaluation, and medication review, including baseline vital signs within 4 hours of assigned patients admission. Initiates patients care plan within 24 hours of admission, establishes nursing diagnosis, intervention and measurable outcomes in collaboration with physician, patient, family and staff.

Documentation reflects hospital, Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies standards of care. Reviews all patients charts to ensure that medical reports, x-rays and dictations are available for review by MD. Collaborates with manager and business office and ensures insurance coverage and procedure authorization. Acts as liaison between the multi-disciplinary team members in completing the treatment plan. Plans and implements or delegates appropriate patient teaching and discharge planning, while continuously evaluating the documentation of progress. Assesses patient/significant others current knowledge base and educational needs and incorporates both into the plan of care.

Functions as a charge nurse PRN--as a charge nurse serves as identified resource person for all members of the team. Charge responsibilities include, but are not limited to: routine assignments, re-assignments, assisting staff with priority setting, and monitoring work performance.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold a current license in the state of Florida or are eligible (requires confirmation from the State Board) for licensure. A certification to specialty is preferred. Must have a current BLS and ACLS certificate. Must possess fundamental mathematics as well as good written and verbal skills.

Within 30 days of hire, employee must: complete general and nursing orientation, pass a written medical test, demonstrate accuracy and ability in administering medications, and have selected competencies. Within 90 days of hire, employee must: show proficiency of IV therapy skills and demonstrate medical/surgical competencies per unit.
