Job Summary and Mission
This position contributes to Starbucks success by planning, organizing and executing engineering assignments and projects that develop technology and methods innovations to enhance productivity and capacity
Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Assesses the benefits of engineering technology and methods changes to manufacturing operations. Integrates engineering principles and resolves technical obstacles for specific engineering projects.
- Applies logic in problem-solving and analysis of alternatives to assess the financial and operations impact of business initiatives. Assesses critical information to make effective decisions or recommendations.
- Develops Requests for Proposal and bid analyses, and leads contract negotiations as required to meet business needs. Manages project budget.
- Develops and implements engineering designs in specific technical functions to improve efficiencies, increase capacity and reduce costs. Builds consensus across functions as project team leader on complex projects and initiatives.
- Develops project plans that define scope, schedule, budget and business impact and risks. Executes plans and identifies issues or obstacles, gains alignment and brings to resolution.
- May oversee facility maintenance and automation specialists (at plant locations).
- May perform general plant engineering work (at plant locations).
- Promotes development of strong working relationships. Mentors less experienced engineering partners.
- Develop and implement advanced processes (including predictive maintenance techniques) to measure, analyze and improve equipment performance (reliability) and communicate prioritization of plant performance improvement projects (at plant locations).
- Collaborate with and coach maintenance and operations partners to upgrade preventative maintenance (PM) processes and process control systems, constantly incorporating new knowledge that has been developed to improve performance (reliability).
- Manage medium to large capital projects, applying technical expertise and project management methods and tools during design, construction and commissioning.
- Oversee detailed root cause analysis of reliability issues.

Summary of Experience

Working knowledge of Industrial networks (i.e. DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet IP)

Working knowledge of SCADA and MES systems such as Wonderware

Working knowledge of SQL and databases
- Engineering (electrical, mechanical, chemical or industrial) - 3 years
- Engineering design and implementation in particular area of specialization - 5 years
- Order management system (if supporting Distribution) - 5 years
- Performance metrics development and root cause analysis - 5 years
- Warehouse or inventory system implementation (if supporting Distribution) - 3 years
- Project management - 1 year
- Strategic planning
- Consumer products or food company and plant experience, either technical or production
- Supervision, including direct supervision of contractors

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

- Solid distribution operations or transportation skills (if supporting Distribution)
- Ability to provide leadership, with the ability to coach and mentor team partners
