Job Description
The Manufacturing Supervisor oversees and directs the efforts of manufacturing employees to deliver products that meet or exceed customer quality and delivery requirements while ensuring alignment with SEF operational objectives.

This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

* Train and manage production employees on the assigned shift.
* Oversee the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift.
* Mentor, coach and engage team; provide constructive and timely performance feedback.
* Drive employee engagement programs at the site(s) with a strong focus on recognition.
* Proactively address potentially difficult or complex employee relations issues while pulling in the necessary stakeholders (ex. HR, Legal, Union representative etc.)

Operational Excellence:

* Oversee production operations on assigned shift.
* Prepare work schedules to ensure efficient operations.
* Maintain knowledge of processes and equipment.
* Troubleshoot issues that arise.
* Ensure that employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
* Notify maintenance department of equipment problems.
* Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
* Take steps to ensure best practices are shared.
* Partner with Industry 4.0 teams and manufacturing engineers on automated process improvements, new technology and other process improvements.
* Prepare and maintain production reports and records regarding time, quality, delivery, cost, equipment effectiveness, inventory, etc.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

* Bachelors or university degree or equivalent qualifying experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

* Manufacturing supervisory experience of 5+ years.
* Demonstrated effectiveness at developing and managing teams.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities.
* Computer skills using information systems, such as HR, QA, Safety, ERP, etc.
* Knowledge of manufacturing, quality and safety practices.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in metals manufacturing preferred.
* Experience in a Union manufacturing environment preferred.
* Experience with Lean, Sig Sigma, and Corporate safety initiatives preferred.
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
