Sr. Product Manager - General Construction - Portland, OR or Dexter, MI

Stanley Infrastructure, a division of Stanley Black & Decker, is seeking a Senior Product Manager for the General Construction segment of its industrial tools and attachments business.
Primary Role & Mission

* Apply Strong Form Product Management to manage all aspects of their portfolio and provide strategic direction across the business.
* Senior Product Manager will be responsible for strategic direction and growth of all product platforms within their portfolio.
* As part of this role, the selected Senior Product Manager will:
* Build and manage the product roadmap for General Construction
* Manage and maximize the global product portfolio in line with global market requirements
* Ensure growth of product top line and gross margin
* Prioritize new product development initiatives to ensure alignment with product roadmap and ensure high return on NPD investments
* Provide commercial teams the guidance, knowledge and marketing support to increase product revenue
* Pursue continuous portfolio optimization for efficiency, growth and profitability
* Support key operations decisions to ensure optimal cost of manufacturing
* This role will report to VP of Product Management

Responsibilities

* Develop and track execution of product strategy - includes conducting VOC, performing competitor analysis, building product roadmaps, applying 80/20 operating system and tools to optimize portfolio, and leading margin excellence programs
* Manage NPD pipeline - includes defining and prioritizing NPD projects, managing product lifecycle, and managing product complexity to optimize portfolio performance and efficiency
* Support Operations - includes participating in S&OP, Make vs Buy decisions, site selection, etc.
* Support Commercial team - includes providing direction on demand generation strategy, channel marketing, sales preparation and support, training, marketing strategy, etc.
* Establish and execute strategic plans, organizational policies, and goals that drive short-term profitability and long-term growth by providing differentiated product, service and support
* Quickly recognize business trends and establish corrective action and contingency plans as necessary to protect the business and meet financial obligations
* Identify opportunities for cross-regional applications for existing product portfolio
* Approve new business cases
* Keep abreast of competitive activity to understand and enhance position in the global marketplace
* Drive end-to-end management of customer programs to ensure coordinated and timely execution and delivery to customers
* Achieve targets associated with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as: Global Revenue Growth, Gross Margin Improvement, Product Vitality Index, and ROI on NPD projects
* Coordinate with the global functional teams to ensure cross-functional and cross-regional cooperation
* Actively participate in creating a safe and positive work environment for all employees

Qualification & Requirements

* Minimum of a Bachelors degree, business field preferred, from an accredited institution
* MBA preferred
* 7+ years of global business experience with manufacturers of engineered industrial products with at least 4 years in product management
* Extensive knowledge of B2B business environments knowledge of heavy equipment and construction and demolition industries would be beneficial
* Past experience in driving product strategy and demonstrated growth success in launching new products and driving growth of product segments is preferred
* Past experience with portfolio optimization and complexity reduction is preferred
* Past experience in product lifecycle management is required
* Past experience in leading cross-regional teams is preferred
* Proficient in planning and global project management
* Excellent communication and influencing skills
* Strong leadership and personal effectiveness skills
* Financial acumen to analyze and report on product line results effectively
* Proficient with Data Analytics and MS Office applications - Advanced Excel skills (advance formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP etc.), PowerPoint, Word, etc.

Travel

* Must be willing to travel as necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities. Travel estimate for this position is ~10-20%.
* Ability to work out of Portland, OR or Dexter, MI preferred but not required
