Job Purpose:
Under general supervision provides technical assistance to the Quality Assurance Manager in resolving product quality issues.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities
Completes analysis of QC testing and inspection methods to improve the accuracy of quality data. Responsible for administration of Return Materials (RMA). Performs standard data analysis and reporting.
Documents quality trends and issues.
May coordinate new testing and inspection processes (including inspector training).
Responds to Quality / Inspection problems (excessive defects, testing equipment problems, etc).
Consults with Inspectors, Process Engineers, Production Supervisors and other QC personnel to identify the sources of problems.
Observes and monitors processes to analyze potential causes of problems.
May perform tests and studies to further isolate the problems.
Proposes and documents Corrective Actions to prevent identified problems from recurring.
Recommends alternative solutions that consider realistic manufacturing constraints.
Documents Quality parameters and control methods including testing and inspection procedures.
May maintain and analyze Quality databases to identify trends and issues. Maintains ad-hoc reports.
Performs written Quality Alerts for concerned parties. Performs internal and process audits per an established schedule.
Summarizes and communicates potential problem areas to Process Engineers and / or Manufacturing Management.
Works with Quality Assurance Manager to support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and teams.
Assists in overseeing Source Inspection processes and requirements.
Assists Quality Manager to support individual customer issues and reporting requirements.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering
A minimum of 2 years working experience in a related role, preferably in the Printed Wiring Board industry.
Must have good Analytical skills
Must have good written and oral communication skills
Requires the ability / experience to perform engineering related tasks and document results with limited guidance.
