Global Technical Manager - Substrate Protection

Job Description

As a Global Technical Manger - Substrate Protection, you will work as part of a team to maximize expertise and technology globally to continue to increase PPGs position as a leading coatings solution provider to the Aerospace Industry.

Key Responsibilities:

* In coordination of commercial platforms and S&T management develop, monitor and implement technology strategy and a aligned project portfolio
* Build clear technical project goals, timelines, and alignment with the business unit, segment, IP, and regulatory affairs while utilizing PPGs EH&S practices in developing new technologies.
* Introduce new projects and lead or mentor innovation teams in process and product development.
* Directly lead a diverse group of associates including Technical Managers while collaborating with customers across subject areas.
* Represent PPG Surface Protection technology in trade organization, conferences and customer meetings
* Ensure continued alignment and utilization of the global project portfolio system, COMPASS and the Resource Management Tool, to lead the technical portfolio process and engage key business unit partners including commercial, segment, supply chain, manufacturing, product stewardship, and purchasing.
* Develop, empower, and engage a diverse talent base of scientists and technicians.
* Assesses the strengths of the technical management team and resolve a strategy to build technical leadership capability.
* Align and implement PPG corporate policies.

Qualifications:

* PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Materials Science or related field required.
* At least 10 years of post-graduate experience ideally with focus on coatings and corrosion protection.
* At least five years of demonstrated ability of leading globally-diverse teams in technical management roles.
* Extensive technical expertise and demonstrated knowledge of leading and influencing in a sophisticated, multi-site environment while building strong work relationships, communicating reliably, and leading change.
* A track record of innovation in industry and academia
* Strong problem-solving skills and tried market and customer awareness.
* Understanding of the intellectual property landscape, products portfolio, trends, and regulatory environment.
* Dedication to EH&S and understanding product stewardship requirements and regulatory trends in a global market environment is required.
