Job Description

Reporting to the XELJANZ Medical Affairs US Team Lead, the US Medical Director will contribute to the planning and execution of medical strategies and tactics for Xeljanz (tofacitinib) in the Pfizer Inflammation and Immunology Medical Affairs gastroenterology team.

The US Medical Director will work collaboratively across the broader medical team and cross-functional business partners (e.g. field medical, health economics and outcomes research colleagues, global medical, medical information, etc) to develop and execute an effective cross-functional Medical Affairs plan.

In conjunction with team members, the US Medical Director will also develop long-term relationships with a wide variety of key healthcare stakeholders and external customers to include medical groups and key opinion leaders in order to demonstrate the clinical value of Xeljanz in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and potentially other assets and disease states. The US Medical Director will develop an advanced perspective of the evolving clinical and healthcare landscape in gastroenterology.

The US Medical Director will also provide Pfizer brand teams with customer and clinical insights to assist in informing Pfizer strategies on critical health issues and facilitate the development of customer-focused tools and medical communications to support patient access to quality medicines.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

* Cross functional efforts with constituents from commercial, field medical, GH&V and other cross-functional colleagues to drive US strategic direction for the brand
* Ability to support the planning and execution of advisory boards, congress-related symposia and congress planning
* Participate in reviewing and approving promotional materials, ensuring fair balance
* Ability to contribute to publication planning, data generation activities and other medical/scientific activities related to informing HCPs on appropriate use of Pfizer medicines
* Serve as a reliable, trusted source of accurate scientific knowledge for clinical data, disease state, product label and competitive data sets
* Congress support in collaboration with North America Medical Affairs (NAMA) colleagues
* Support internal data interpretation and alignment activities
* Support evidence dissemination and education activities including scientific publications and scientific exchange
* Support internal medical training curriculum in collaboration with the I&I Medical Affairs capabilities group

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* MD required
* 7 or more years of relevant experience required
* Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience in Medical Affairs preferred
* Expertise or experience in gastroenterology is highly desirable
* Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
* Proven ability to facilitate open discussion and debate among key stakeholders and build internal and external relationships
* Well-organized with the ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively lead in a matrix organization
