As part of Windows Servicing and Delivery org, the Build, Onboarding, Optimization & Monitoring (BOOM) team is the gateway to servicing of Microsoft's intelligent cloud and intelligent edge products, from our Azure Cloud OS offerings to Edge, Hololens, Windows, Xbox and more. Within BOOM, the Monitoring team's mission is to provide trustworthy and actionable insights along with intelligent recommendations about Windows' builds to leadership, DRIs, shiproom and the Build system so they are always well-informed and can take correct and timely data driven decisions to release builds quickly and efficiently to keep Microsoft's customers protected and productive.

We are a small team that emphasizes teamwork, agility, collaboration, and strong focus on living up to Microsoft values and culture. Core responsibilities include aggregating telemetry, creating data models, doing analysis to find impactful insights, creating reports and automation that drives business and engineering goals and effort. This is a complex act of working with several data producers, systems, and partner teams.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of service execution and life cycle (design, development, quality assurance, production deployment, service availability, reliability, and live site monitoring), including but not limited to:

* Design, write and deliver software to collect, aggregate, model and report data from and to highly complex distributed systems.
* Build reliable, scalable, secure, and automated analytics platform that provides intelligent recommendations to distrusted systems.
* Modify current systems and automate parts of it based on insights found.
* Identify impactful business problems to solve and then use data to find insights, create reports and then drive impact to move the metrics in correct direction.
* Share accountability of a wide array of data and reporting assets.
* Participate in DRI duties for our build-to-packaging servicing segment, rotating across the entire BOOM team in partnership with our Ireland Build team, ensuring builds for our monthly servicing Patch Tuesday releases are consistently delivered to packaging on time every month.

Required qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Math or equivalent field or experience
* 3+ years of software development experience with C, Java or other Object-Oriented language
* 1+ years of experience working with SQL, Azure Data Explorer, R, or Python

Preferred qualifications:

* Comfortable with continuously learning the rapidly evolving data analysis solutions
* Strong curiosity and a desire to understand the business impact of the work
* Experience with web development
* Familiarity with building and supporting services build on Azure
* Experience creating and deploying ML models
