Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) hasan exciting career opportunity for an Instrumentation Engineer to join our teamof qualified, diverse individuals. Thisposition will be at Northrop Grummans South Bay Center of Excellence (COE)located in El Segundo, CA.

Position Overview:

As an Instrumentation Engineer supporting the System Integration,Test amp; Evaluation (SIT amp;E) you will be an integral member of afast-paced engineering team performing a wide range of structural static andfatigue tests in various test environments utilizing complex data acquisition,load control systems, and new technologies.

Responsibilities include selection and implementation of dataacquisition hardware and software, selection and setup of instrumentationsensors such as load cells, strain gages, LVDTs, thermocouples, etc. Candidateswill liaison with Test Engineers and Technicians to ensure testing meetsrequirements. Strong mechanical and electronics theory as well as programming abilities are beneficial.

EssentialFunctions:

* Setup, program, operate, and maintain data acquisition systems, load control systems, and digital image correlation systems
* Provide guidance on selection of instrumentation transducers best suited for test
* Ensure test data meets requirements and perform data reduction as needed
* Setup and conduct tests, record data, provide real-time information to customer
* Strictly adhere to test methods, procedures, and standards while testing
* Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, and collaborate with Test Engineers, Design Engineers, Technicians, and Customers.
* Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives and maintain test records

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor rsquo;s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years applicable experience, or a Master 39;s Degree and 0 years of experience.
* Basic understanding of Wheatstone bridge sensors, strain gages, thermocouples, load cells, linear variable differential transformer, pressure gages, string potentiometers, and other transducers
* Basic understanding of load control and data acquisition systems
* Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government (DoD) Department of Defense Secret security clearance plus Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor rsquo;s or Master rsquo;s Degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with emphasis in electromechanical theory
* Experience operating load control systems using feedback and PID controls.
* Experience with data acquisition systems and test measurement
* Understating of electro-mechanical controls theory and concepts
* Understanding of metrology, uncertainty analysis, sources of measurement error
* Familiarity with load paths, reaction forces, and related concepts
* Ability to perform basic programing and understanding of programing concepts
* A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance with current or previous Special Program Access
