This opportunity is a dual-hat role; comprised of functional management activities approximately 20% of the time, and the individual 39;s program responsibilities approximately 80% of the time. Essential Functions:

Responsible for the day-to-day staff management; communications, performance assessment and feedback, career mentoring, professional development, employee rewards and recognition, as well as resolving personnel issues. Provides project staffing and recruitment support such as; interviewing, hiring, and recommending employees for raises and promotions. Will provide detailed employee performance feedback, periodic 1-on-1 meetings, annual mid-term and end of year performance appraisals. Contribute to employee development by training, coaching and mentoring other engineers and support staff within the functional organization. Responsible for evaluation of current project requirements and ensuring staff has an adequate statement of work to optimize contract performance. Opportunity to work with the program software manager and IPT leads in establishing personal program and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations, and merit adjustments. The Functional Manager piece requires tasking and coordinating a team of approximately 12 engineers, including the process and resource coordination with functional homeroom management.

Technical responsibilities include developing, modifying, and maintaining hard real time embedded system software development for flight/safety-critical applications using software engineering best practices amp; standards. Participation in the full life-cycle of software development including C++ coding, flight/safety critical coding standards, unit testing and software integration testing. Contributing to software requirements, design documentation and support for program reviews.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor rsquo;s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with at least 9 years of direct related software/systems engineering experience OR a Master rsquo;s Degree in a (STEM) discipline with at least 7 years of direct related software/systems engineering experience
* Previous experience in military and/or commercial payload integration
* Familiarity with all phases of the software development life cycle and Agile software development
* Prior lead or management experience in a team environment
* Although not required to start this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance with Program Special Access within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master rsquo;s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated leadership experience with an engineering team
* Experience on a Northrop Grumman Corporation program to include software architecture oversight
* Active DoD Secret or Top Secret level clearance with Program Access
