Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Advance Tactical Systems Business Unit is looking for a Director of Strategic Initiatives to lead a highly specialized team for restricted programs that specialize in the development, manufacture, assembly and testing of sensor systems for various platforms. This position reports to the Director of the Advanced Tactical Systems, Emerging Program Operating Unit and will be responsible for maturing the products and capabilities of modern digitally engineered architectures, capturing future business opportunities on new platforms across multiple services and supporting the Northrop Grumman cross sector campaign activities.
This candidate will be a strong leader responsible for managing a portfolio of businesses, maintaining customer intimacy, setting strategic direction, and growing the business.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Lead a multi-functional teams in a matrixed organizational environment, with multiple program managers and their portfolios as direct reports.
Responsible for all phases of projects / programs from inception through completion.
Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of programs.
Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes.
Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.
Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, risk/opportunity management, identifies program problems and obtains solutions.
Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading review sessions with customer to discuss program performance.
Develops business area strategies and new business opportunities that are consistent with Division / Sector priorities.
Directs the work of employees assigned to the operating unit and is responsible for assisting them in their overall development.
Development and delivery of presentations to customers, management, and other program stakeholders
Development of customer relationships and cultivation of customer intimacy
This position has expectation of travel to other sites and customers.
Qualification
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 15 years experience supporting Department of Defense, Government contracts, or project management in other industries.
Experience in leading a portfolio of programs comprised of development, production, and sustainment components
Proven track record of growth and positioning large portfolios for future success
Experience and proven track record of cultivating customer relationships.
Secret Clearance or higher required (updated within past 6 years or part of continuing reinvestigation program)
Preferred Qualifications:
BS / MS Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline
Active TS/SCI clearance (subject to verification by Security)
Experience leading a distributed work force
Experience working in a large matrix
The ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of business and financial concepts, tools and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance.
