Northrop Grummans Manned Aircraft Design Centerof Excellence located in Melbourne Florida has an immediate opening for a Sr.Principal Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in crew systems advanceddesign.
Essential Functions:
* Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for crew systems on the Future Carrier Aviation (FCA) program.
* The engineers roles will be to primarily oversee junior engineers work, perform crew systems technical design and Pilot-Vehicle-Interface (PVI) integration, interface with suppliers and report status to the Crew Systems lead engineer and IPT leads across program Integrated Product Teams
* The candidate will support various mockups and simulators design, build and evaluations.
* The candidate will be technically qualified to perform advanced Crew Systems design layouts and concepts technology development for the next generation cockpit and develop specific derivative cockpit concepts for various programs meeting customer requirements.
* The candidate will be part of a team of mechanical design engineers, human factors engineers and pilots developing the preliminary designs and later maturing the selected concept for technology maturation.
* Candidate will be performing in the following main design categories:
* Escape Systems
* Breathing Gas
* Transparencies and Canopy
* Cockpit Furnishings and Lighting
* Life Support Systems
* Operator Controls and Displays
* Overall Cockpit Layout and Integration
* Integration of Human Factors Aspects
* Mockup and Simulator Developments
* Roles and Responsibilities:
* Ensures the appropriate and systematic realization of customer PVI requirements into system solutions to meet program objectives and requirements
* Plan, layout, develop, design and integrate cockpit products, systems and subsystems
* Produce Supplier and Performance SOWs documents
* Perform trade studies, determine Results and Conclusions, and make Recommendations
* Identify and Manage Risks, Issues and Opportunities
* Coordination with other Integrated Product Teams and subsystems
* Digital Twin and Model Based Systems Engineering, Agile
* Cockpit flight controls, crew accommodations, mission systems and subsystems interfaces
* Packaging JPATS 1-8 aircrew anthropometric sizes
* NX CAD Software and Human Modeling
* Leading and mentoring

Qualification
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree in aSTEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from anaccredited university and 9 years of engineering experience OR Masters Degreeand 7 years of engineering experience OR a PhD. Degree and 4 years of experience.
* Experience with industrystandard CAD tools and processes such as NX and CATIA V5.
* An active in-scope DoDSecret security clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain andmaintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).
PreferredQualifications:
* Masters Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
* Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM.
* Prior weapons integration experience.
* Knowledge and familiarity of weapons carriage, weapons release and weapon loading/installation
