Northrop Grumman Space Systems isseeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Payload Team. Thisposition will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learnmore about the GBSD program here.

What Youll Get To Do:

Duties willinclude evaluation of mechanical designs, testing and validation of thosedesigns. Application of extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledgeof other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearlypresent technical approaches and findings. The successful applicant will:

Determine tasking for yourself and otherswith minimum oversight

Understand and apply system requirements

Simulate and evaluate hardware performance

Perform model validation through test andanalysis

Assist in all phases of the system lifecycleincluding requirements application, design, test, fabrication, andimplementation

Evaluate mechanical hardware performance

Maintain design documentation and followconfiguration management requirements

Create technical reports and presenttechnical information

Lead and mentor team members

Assistance in planning and schedulingactivities

Interface with Air Force Customer

Interface with subcontractors

Thispositions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employeeswho work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Fridayoff.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Sciencein Mechanical Engineering or higher with 9 years ofrelated experience with Bachelor of Science; 7 years with Masters; 4 yearswith PhD
5 years of ICBM orAerospace experience

Experience withICBM Weapon Systems
Experience withFinite Element Analysis model set up, performing analysis, interpreting andreporting results preferably with FEMAP
